Davenport Campbell partnered with this Government Agency to translate their commitment to dignity, choice and inclusion into a cohesive workplace framework that can be applied across Australia. Our role was to help the Agency reshape a large and complex portfolio – from Surry Hills in Sydney, to Townsville, Canberra, Geelong and Perth – into workplaces that are easy to navigate, safer for staff, and welcoming for all.

Working closely with the Agency’s people, we developed a set of Workplace Accommodation Guidelines and a “Kit of Parts” that now sit behind every workplace project. These new guidelines give the Agency a repeatable pathway for new and upgraded sites, reducing the reliance on one‑off solutions and speeding up decision‑making.

For the recently completed HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney, we ensured that accessibility and inclusion deliberately go beyond minimum code to consider equitable access, independence, and dignity throughout. Inside the workplace, a mix of focus rooms, collaboration spaces, wellness rooms, kitchen breakout hubs, and neighbourhood‑based workpoints support different workstyles and neurodiverse needs. Alongside this, we also made sure that the workplace balances openness with security and technology.

The overall result is a national workplace blueprint that can flex to different buildings and teams, while still feeling distinctly on brand. For staff and visitors alike, this means offices that are easier to find, easier to use, and more closely aligned with the values at the heart of the Agency’s work.
