Senior Designer

We’re looking for a Senior Designer to join our Canberra team

Set out below are our requirements for a full-time role as a Senior Interior Designer at Davenport
Campbell’s Canberra Studio.

We are seeking a talented Senior Interior Designer who wants to be challenged, grow with the studio,
push design boundaries, value our client relationships, has a passion to do great things and own projects.

Company Structure
Formed 40 years ago, Davenport Campbell has undergone numerous changes in ownership, geographical spread and market dominance.
For the past 17 years the company has been owned by Peter Wager and Neill Johanson.
Recently several directors have been appointed in recognition of their leadership skills.
This has resulted in a balanced management structure, quick decisions, and transparency in all aspects of our business.
During that time, we have focused on our core competencies and aligned them with the kind of work
we like to do. A guiding principle is that this work needs to be both profitable, sustainable, and creative.
We have found that our office of between 35 to 40 people in Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne,
not including our extended family of contractors and part timers is just the right size for everyone to know each other,
and to offer a consistently high level of creativity, innovation and service to our clients.
We have just celebrated our studio’s sixth year in Canberra recently, where we are currently
undertaking several major workplace transformation projects for both the government and private sector.

The Role
Having completed several workplace and building upgrade projects in Canberra we are mindful of not
being complacent about the future.
Our success has been based upon research into emerging trends, our association with subject matter
experts and hard work.
Designers with drive to help support and manage our best clients is what’s important to the Principals
and Directors, who see their role as providing the candidate with the best possible career path and
opportunity to work directly with our clients.
At the heart of what we do is a strong belief that creativity, passion and innovation are critical to the
success of each project we do.

Specifically, we are looking for a person to:
– Work closely directly with the Director on workplace transformation strategies for new clients –
where should they live and how much space do they need?
– Undertake big idea thinking, space and concept planning
– Work in our design teams to design develop new workplace projects
– Join the Director for new business presentations
– Work directly with our 3D visualisation and graphics team to help bring your ideas to life
– Form lasting relationships with our clients
– Develop project leads with our leadership team
– Confidently lead large workplace projects
– Contribute towards the development of fee proposals and sales collateral

Your Skills and Experience
– Strong skills in REVIT, Indesign and photoshop skills including 3D visualisation experience
such as Enscape or similar
–  An ability to work across multiple projects
– An ability to lead the design team from the initial client meeting thru to project documentation
and delivery
– Able to work in a collaborative way with our services consultants and other advisors including BCA
– Strong concept planning skills

This role could be applied to workplace projects ranging in size from 1,000 sqm to 100,000 sqm for
major professional and financial service companies to quirky start-ups.
