Ben and Tom, two members of our Build Environment Team have arrived at Garma, South of Mt Everest. With David Francis and other members of the Australian Himalayan Foundation and their affiliated NGO REED, they are there to provide assistance on the school reconstruction program currently underway.
It’s been 18 months since we commenced work on a master plan to organise and rebuild the school after the devastating 2015 ANZAC Day earthquakes.
With the passing of the Monsoon, work has accelerated. The community are currently laying down stone floors for the base of the building and the classrooms are being assembled with steel frames from India which will arrive in a couple of weeks.
The guys took over 20kgs of classroom supplies donated by our team. These supplies will be given to the children at Garma High School to help with their education program.
