FRIDA KAHLO AND DIEGO RIVERA EXHIBITION 25th June – 9th October 2016 For the first time, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera masterpieces are exhibited in Sydney. The exhibition is a combination of paintings, photographs and film at the Art Gallery of NSW. The private collection titled ‘Frida and Diego’ gives insight to the lives of the world’s most renowned Mexican artists. LOCATION: Art Gallery of NSW MORE: Frida and Diego
SYDNEY FRINGE FESTIVAL 1st – 30th September 2016 Sydney Fringe Festival is back this September for it’s 7th year, celebrating with it’s largest program yet. With over 300 shows crammed into 50 venues across Newtown, Erskinsville, Marrickville, Redfern and Surry Hills. The program includes theatre, dance, circus, literature and poetry with the opening party taking place on Stanley Street in Darlinghurst on Saturday the 3rd of September. SYDNEY DESIGN FESTIVAL 2nd – 11th September 2016 Sydney Design 2016 is now in its 19th year. This annual contemporary design festival creates a platform for a convergence of people, ideas and activities across creative industry sectors. Sydney Design program content provides visitors with an opportunity to unpack design in all its forms – to understand and explore the processes, functions and narratives within design enterprise and to be inspired by the exhibitions and people involved in creating our futures. This year with the festival theme, Make or Break, we examine the tension between success and failure and explore how designers are creatively using and deconstructing production methods and design histories to create solutions. ARCHIBALD, WYNNE & SULMAN PRIZE 16th July 2015 – 9th October 2016 Arhchibald, Wynne and Sulman Prize is awarded annually to the best portrait, preferably of some man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science or politics, painted by some of Australia’s most prominent artists.
