Here’s what we’re really looking forward to seeing this quarter...   SYDNEY FESTIVAL  7th – 29th January 2017 Xuberant, exciting and forever effervescent – the best time to experience Sydney is in January, when the city is in full celebratory mode. Sydney Festival presents the biggest and best of the world’s performing and visual arts, all coming together in an avalanche of artistic activity. From the central business district to Parramatta, Sydney Festival brings to life unique spaces including the Festival Village in Hyde Park, Sydney Town Hall and The Domain, as well as making the most of Sydney’s best venues including Carriageworks, Riverside Theatres and Sydney Opera House. LOCATION: Various CBD Locations MORE: Sydney Festival   TATSUO MIYAJIMA: CONNECT EVERYTHING 3rd November – 5th March 2017 One of Japan’s leading contemporary artists, Tatsuo Miyajima is known for immersive and technologically-driven sculptures and installations that feature light-play and time cycles. This Sydney-exclusive exhibition will be his first major survey exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere, encompassing key works from the beginnings of his career to the present. The cyclical repetition of numbers, along with a shifting from light to dark, reflect the fascination with time in Miyajima’s work. He draws inspiration from Buddhist philosophy, with its exploration of mortality and human cycles of death and renewal. LOCATION: MCA – 140 George Street, The Rocks MORE: Tatsuo Miyajima – MCA   SYDNEY CHINESE NEW YEAR 27th January – 12th February 2017 In 2017, Sydney will be illuminated by giant Lunar Lanterns representing the animal signs of the zodiac as we celebrate the Year of the Rooster. More than 1 million people will flock to 80 spectacular events in Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival, making it one of the largest Lunar New Year celebrations outside China. Find your zodiac amongst the Lunar Lanterns popping up around the city, enjoy cocktails, music and performance at the Westpac Lunar Lanterns Hub in Martin Place, then join the bustling crowds enjoying the flavours and sights of traditional celebrations in Chinatown. LOCATION: Various CBD Locations MORE: Chinese New Year   TWILIGHT FOOD FAIR 4th November 2015 – 3rd March 2017 Enjoy the long summer evenings at the annual Twilight Food Fair in North Sydney’s Civic Park – a great way to end the week with delicious hot food and live entertainment! This season we have a fantastic international line-up of food stalls and live music to help you unwind and ease you into the weekend. BYO picnic rug, family and friends!
